Roxanne Davis is a busy woman. Not only does she spend her days chasing around her three-and-a-half-year-old son and her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, but she also spends it chasing around over a hundred fellow expat moms. Davis is the organizer of the new Doha Expat Mums and Kids Social Group, which, as its name suggests is a social group/support group for moms and expecting moms living in Doha. “The purpose of the group is to connect expat moms and put us all in one place,” says Davis. “ So you can find playgroups and ask questions of other moms.” So far the group, which was started in November 2008, boasts 110 members from 33 different countries. The group hosts playgroups, coffee meets, night outs and a website that offers both a public forum for questions and a private forum for those more personal questions and to arrange locations and meeting times. “I hope to soon also provide reviews of pediatricians and other services for moms, to make it easier to find a good doctor.” Says Davis. Davis says that the reaction to the group has been very positive. “Moms all say ‘my God, thank you, finally,’ “she says.
