A TRIP TO THE ISLAND
QH DECIDED TO HOP INTO THE FERRY AND VISIT BANANA ISLAND RESORT DOHA BY ANANTARA
FOR A LUXURIOUS GETAWAY. FIND OUT WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY.
There are some hotels, which simply have it all. And first impressions are a must in every kind of experience and Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara not only gave an impeccable one, but also delivered. With a 25min transfer from the heart of Doha to the stunning resort in a luxurious Yacht, the Banana Island is everything you’d expect from a 5 star island resort – sun, sand and good times all round. As we arrived with a warm welcome, we were soon taken to our private villa, which we
were also greeted with our personal host who promised a 24/7 attention when needed.
TAKE A PEAK IN MY ROOM
With a gorgeous 800-meter stretch of white sandy beach, 141 rooms, suites, and over water villas, we stayed in one of their two-bedroom sea view pool villa. This exquisite luxury villa combines enchanting, traditional style with outstanding contemporary amenities. Simple but elegant and in touch with nature, plus with luxury finishes and a big veranda with a private pool facing the ocean, is a perfect blend to get things right on a local getaway. We could throw open the door to let the sea breeze through and hear and glimpse the lapping blue water. The bathrooms are spacious with a huge terrazzo tub as well as a separate shower and two vanity areas. But with so much to see and do at the Island, you probably won’t be spending too much time in your luxurious villa.
COME DINE WITH ME
Depending on your mood Banana Island has an extensive array of dining experiences for you to choose from. The food being exquisite pick your choice as buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at Azraq and Q-Lounge and a range of local and international varieties are offered as well as wellness-focused options. For our first evening, our dinner choice was at Azraq, which offers a grand array of food artistically presented in a beautiful set up with an outdoor terrace, the restaurant serves up a sumptuous buffet with selections of local and international dishes for each meal, each day. The following morning at Q-Lounge we enjoyed buffet breakfast in an absolutely beautiful setting looking right over the pool and the beach.
After filling up a bountiful breakfast, we were ready for some beach and water activities. The resort has made sure to keep the kids packed with fun amenities such as: a pool with water slides overlooking the beach, table tennis, football and other water amenities. After a fun beach day, we had lunch in an authentic Italian culinary experience which serves a range of Italian dishes with some of the best pizza in Qatar. The island also offers Ted’s an American style diner and Al Nahm serving traditional Arabic cuisine.
While we love lounging by the pool with a great book or relaxing at the sandy beaches, sometimes a little bit of adventure and water fun is much needed, thankfully, the prominent resort offers incredible array of activities for its guests. Everyone can enjoy kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, surfing, jet skii – just to name a few! If that isn’t enough for you, the Balance Wellness Center can help you break a sweat with their special programs for yoga, weight management, tennis and golf.
It’s blissful taking tranquil walks around the Island however, there are constantly hop-on-hopoff buggies driving for the convenience of the guests. The main communal pool overlooking the beach is the perfect place to cool down under the hot sun. The island also has one of the nicest lagoons and make sure you pay a visit to the beautiful Anantara Spa. QH has the luxury to try its signature massage. The therapist was very professional and the atmosphere in the spa villa was tranquil and zen. As you might expect there are a variety of treatments to choose from so whether you want a manicure or a couple’s massage there’s more than a few excuses to treat yourself.
The resort is also a perfect place for anybody with children, there’s Peppermint and Cool mint kids club amongst other fun activities like bowling, cinema, bicycle and Segway rentals. Not just this, if you want to take a piece of the island with you, don’t forget to shop at the resort’s own gift shop. And of course, if you want to upgrade your stay you could splash out and go for the overwater villa options – which sits at the end of the island overlooking the beautiful lagoon.
Overall, we were blown away with such luxurious and entertaining this resort is; the setting was stunning, the staff was attentive and friendly. And because we are constantly on the move with busy schedules and never-ending agendas, it was a dream to fully disconnect from the city, its noise and other things. If you’re planning to visit this luxurious resort, take in mind that is not only for couples, but also for the ones who dare to take a break, relax and unwind with nature.
